Born and raised here in Gothenburg to an American, natural-born networker and a Swedish entrepreneur, Micki (short for Michaela) is a bi-lingual, half-american Swede.
Her nomadic heritage led her to venture out into the world at the age of 19, heading first for the pristine alps of Switzerland in Klosters and the Valais; from there over to the spectacular Northwest corner of the US in Seattle, WA; back over to Zürich for a couple of years and then to Oxford and the Isle of Wight in England before finally landing back in Gothenburg again ten years later.
The move back to Switzerland also led to her marrying her long-time Swiss boyfriend, who then moved with her to England, where Micki earned her honours degree in international business management.
Micki comes from a long line of entrepreneurial reusers on both sides of her family and grew up saving, twisting and turning different objects and material to find new ways of looking at and using them, turning docks into doors and doors into tables.
Her background in project management has involved a great deal of creative, temporary interior set-ups, setting the stage for events with existing furniture and materials – usually on a budget. Her 20 years of international business management and business development experience has been very useful in the start-up of reCreate Design Company – a company plowing new fields, treading new paths and promoting new methods and approaches to the very traditional field of interior design.
